groups ADAPT® Licensed Facilitator Program

Not a certification.
A readiness review.

Becoming a Licensed ADAPT Facilitator requires something most certification programs cannot assess: the actual ability to run a session, hold the ambiguity of a real organizational experiment, and coach practitioners past the surface answer into the uncomfortable territory where real learning happens.

The honest difference

We are not a certification factory.

Every L&D certification program certifies knowledge. ADAPT grants a license based on demonstrated readiness — because knowing a framework and being able to hold a room through a real organizational experiment are not the same thing.

What you will not get
  • closeA multiple-choice exam that tests recall of framework definitions
  • closeA self-paced online certification you complete alone
  • closeA credential issued based on seat time or course completion
  • closeA badge that says you know ADAPT without demonstrating you can run it
  • closeA process designed to pass as many candidates as possible
What you will get
  • checkA half-day session where you participate as a learner and then facilitate
  • checkDirect, specific feedback from a Helix Group partner on what they observed
  • checkA clear decision: ready, almost, or not yet — with specific reasoning
  • checkA structured path forward if you are not ready — not a rejection
  • checkA license that means something because not everyone who applies receives one
The Readiness Session

A half-day. Three acts. One decision.

The Readiness Session runs virtually in a group of up to eight candidates and is facilitated by a Helix Group partner. You will not know which module we run in advance. A facilitator who can only run a session they have over-prepared for is not ready.

1
Act 1 · 90 minutes

The Cohort Experience — you participate as a learner

You and the other candidates experience a complete ADAPT module session as practitioners. The reading discussion, the Quest design exercise, the AI coaching interaction, and the full debrief format — run exactly as a Licensed Facilitator would run it with a real client cohort.

What we are observing: How do you engage as a learner? Do you ask surface questions or specific ones? Do you design a Quest that is genuinely experimental or do you default to something safe? Do you push back on the framework or accept it passively? Your learning behavior tells us more about your facilitation readiness than anything you say about yourself.
2
Act 2 · 60 minutes

The Breakout Facilitation — you run the session

Candidates split into pairs or trios. Each pair has 20 minutes to co-facilitate a Quest debrief with the others watching. No script. No preparation time beyond what you just experienced. You have seen one Quest debrief in Act 1 — now you run one yourself.

What we are observing: Can you hold silence after a question without filling it immediately? Do you push on the gap between a practitioner's assumptions and their results, or accept the first answer? Do you make it about the content or about the practitioner? Can you handle someone who is resistant or defensively certain their Quest means something other than what it reveals? These are the skills that separate facilitators from teachers.
3
Act 3 · 45–60 minutes

The Structured Debrief — direct, specific feedback

Every candidate receives direct, specific feedback from the Helix Group partner on what was observed. Not a grade. Not a score. A conversation — run exactly like a Quest debrief — where we ask what you noticed about your own facilitation, where you felt confident, and where you felt lost. Then we tell you what we saw.

At the end of this session we make one of three decisions for each candidate. The decision is communicated the same day with specific written reasoning.
The decision

Three outcomes. All of them honest.

At the end of the Readiness Session we communicate one of three decisions — the same day, in writing, with specific reasoning about what we observed.

verified

Ready

You demonstrated the capacity to hold an ADAPT session — not perfectly, but with enough genuine coaching instinct that our confidence in putting you in front of a real cohort is high. You receive Facilitator License access immediately and are listed in the Licensed Facilitator Directory.

pending

Almost

You showed real promise but one or two specific things need to develop. We tell you exactly what those things are. You are offered a Solo License path — typically 60–90 days of focused work through specific modules, with Quests designed to develop the identified gap. A second Readiness Session follows at no additional session fee. If you pass, your Solo License fee is credited against the Facilitator License.

schedule

Not yet

The gap is significant enough that a 60-day solo path will not close it on its own. This is rare, but it happens — and the honest conversation is more valuable than a polite pass. We refer you to the Solo License path with a specific development plan and tell you exactly what to work on before reapplying. No one is turned away permanently.

Questions

Common questions.

No. You can apply without any prior ADAPT experience. However, candidates who have completed at least one or two ADAPT modules as a Solo Learner tend to perform significantly better in the Readiness Session — because they have experienced the learning model as a practitioner before being asked to facilitate it. If you have not yet used ADAPT, we recommend starting the free 7-day trial before your session.
We send you a written document within 48 hours of the session describing specifically what we observed and what your solo path should focus on. We recommend 3–5 specific modules and assign Quest experiments designed to develop the gaps we identified. After 60–90 days you apply for a second Readiness Session at no additional session fee. If you pass, your Solo License fee is credited against the Facilitator License — you do not pay double.
Yes — your license covers all 25 paths. In practice, most facilitators focus on the clusters most relevant to their client work. During your Readiness Session we will identify which clusters you are strongest in and which you should prioritize developing. The annual check-in is where we discuss expanding your facilitation range.
The Facilitator License supports multiple simultaneous cohorts with up to 25 participants each. There is no cap on the number of cohorts — only on participants per cohort. Cohort participants do not need their own ADAPT subscriptions.
Your directory profile includes your name, location, professional specialization, the ADAPT clusters you facilitate most effectively, a practitioner statement (a specific answer to what organizational problem you most often help clients work through), a contact method, and the date you became licensed. The directory is searchable by cluster and location. It is maintained by the Helix Group and updated annually.
Yes. Licensed Facilitators may offer ADAPT-based cohort programs as part of their client engagements. You run the sessions using your Facilitator License. Your clients do not need individual ADAPT subscriptions. If a client wants organizational-level access — the Journey Board and company-scoped Quest data — that requires a Corporate License, which we can discuss separately.
Your license continues as long as you maintain the subscription. Your directory listing moves to inactive status if you have not run a cohort in 12 months — we check in at the annual review. Reactivating your listing requires confirming that you are actively facilitating again, which takes one email.
